Abstract
INTRODUCTION For tar sands evaluation, porosity and fluid saturations are traditionally measured by core analysis. Using the formation density measured from logs will result in different values for these para- meters. How significant this difference is depends on the end use. The paper illustrates that the variation of tar-in- place is not significant. However, the variations in porosity and fluid satura- tions, all critical to the evaluation of in-situ recovery schemes, are significant.
