Abstract

Like all mature fields, Alaska’s Prudhoe Bay oil field is declining. Oil production rates since 1988’s peak of 1.5 million b/d has declined by a factor of four, from 7000 b/d/well to less than 1700 b/d/well. Water production now exceeds oil rates, and GOR levels continue to rise.
