A Layered Resistivity Model for Deriving Rt in Thin Dipping Beds

Abstract

Employing a pulsed power deep induction device (XHR*) allows for the development of a one foot layered resistivity model that includes apparent dip magnitude which leads to a solution of Rt in thin dipping beds. This approach is numerically simulated to illustrate the problems and confusion created over conventional devices with various depths of investigation which are magnified by the effects of dip. A field example is presented in which the DCX inversion enhances thin bed resistivities.
