Abstract

The dipmeter tool has long been a valuable aid to geologists in their exploration for hydrocarbon reservoirs and is routinely run in formations where structural bedding information is required. In recent years, however, there has been a growing use of the dip information in stratigraphic plays. Coupled with the increased use of the dip data was an awareness that the raw dipmeter curve responses were also showing bedding characteristics unique to specific environments.
