Abstract

Laminar flow conditions are commonly found in polymer injection wells, low rate water injection_ wells, and in the lower depths of wells, low rate water injection_ wells, and in the lower depths of higher rate water injection wells. Radioactive tracer logging is the higher rate water injection wells. Radioactive tracer logging is the primary technique available for quantitatively measuring injection primary technique available for quantitatively measuring injection profiles in. these conditions because spinner flowmeters respond poorly profiles in. these conditions because spinner flowmeters respond poorly in the low flow rate or high viscosity fluids characteristic of in the low flow rate or high viscosity fluids characteristic of laminar flow. However, radioactive tracer logs run in laminar flow laminar flow. However, radioactive tracer logs run in laminar flow are often difficult to interpret because of the highly dispersed are often difficult to interpret because of the highly dispersed tracer slugs usually observed. Iv this study, we have evaluated the tracer slugs usually observed.
