Abstract

In deviated wells two-phase flow is potentially complex. In oil/water flow the lighter phase tends to flow along the upper side of the wellbore, crossflow between the phases may occur and in some cases downflow of water is established although the net flow is upwards. As a result of such flow patterns production logging tools which measure localised quantities do not determine volumetric flow rates in deviated wells. The use of oxygen activation logging in such circum- stances has been investigated.
