Abstract

Knowledge of downhole water holdup and flow patterns for water/oil systems in vertical pipe is vital for achieving accurate interpretation of most production logging services. Theoretical models and correla- tions attempt to predict these values, but most are designed for gas/liquid systems. To verify the accuracy of some of these models, the vertical flow of oil mixed in water through large diameter pipe was observed.
