Abstract
Induced gamma-ray spectrometry, both inelastic and capture, has been established as a viable method for performing elemental analysis in a wellbore. Recent advances in detector technology have vastly improved the measurement accuracy and precision, allowing interpretation techniques to move forward. Many operators are increasing their use of sophisticated cased-hole logs for reservoir monitoring and for re-evaluation of mature fileds. There is additionally a need for detailed lithology analysis in cased wells that have insufficient open-hole data.
