Abstract

The Hamilton Brothers Cherhill well was drilled at a location structurally higher than a dual zone gaswell less than one mile to the west. All potentially productive zones were encountered high to prognosis and a discovery was anticipated. Contrary to all the favorable geological indications, the hydrocarbon detection unit installed at the well site indicated all zones to be essentially water bearing. Subsequently, analysis of the wireline logs and drill stem test data substantiated the information provided by the hydrocarbon detection unit.
