Abstract

Many tight reservoirs in the Anadarko Basin are hundreds of feet thick, but produce primarily from short, fractured intervals. Examples include both carbonates and sands. Evaluation of such a formation often hinges upon judgement of the amount of fracturing present, and the best completions will attempt to take full advantage of the naturally fractured intervals. This paper illustrates the use of Full Wave Sonic (FWS) waveform information with other log data to identify fractured intervals in the Granite Wash formation, where the Stoneley wave amplitude is the best single fracture indicator.
