Abstract

All wireline logs have some value in the geological description of a reservoir unit. Dipmeters, because of their sharp vertical resolution and the ability to compare different sides of the hole are particularly useful but underutilized devices for the description of stratigraphic layering. A new generation of dipmeter tools, employing six electrodes on independently articulated arms, has recently been introduced in a number of countries.
