Abstract

The elevation of an oil (or gas) -water interface can sometimes be estim- ated from pressure data obtained in the discovery well, even though the inter- face has not been encountered. If the structural dip is also estimated, the down dip extent of the oil field may be predicted. This information is of great value in assessing economics, acquiring land, and drilling development wells.
