Abstract

The principal objectives of formation evaluation are to identify and correlate subsurface geological formations, to determine the mineralogy and physical subsurface geological formations, to determine the mineralogy and physical properties of potential reservoir rock and determine the properties of the properties of potential reservoir rock and determine the properties of the fluid they contain. Although Measurement-While-Drilling (MWD) formation eval- fluid they contain. Although Measurement-While-Drilling (MWD) formation eval uation does not presently allow the same number of tool measurements as uation does not presently allow the same number of tool measurements as available with wireline methods, it does offer advantages and in some cases available with wireline methods, it does offer advantages and in some cases superior data. MWD formation data, in addition to allowing "real-time" evalua tion will when combined with wireline data can enhance formation evaluation.
