Abstract

Absorption of compressional and shear wave energy in porous, fluid sa- turated rocks, measured by wire line acoustic logging, vertical seismic profiling, well-to-well seismics or surface seismics, might yield very interesting reservoir information, namely on permeability, specific sur- face and gas, oil and water saturation.
