Abstract

Four shaly sand formation models are compared. They are the three-resistor, the Waxman-Smits, the dual water models, and a general heterogenous mixture model as developed by Hanai and Bruggman. It is found that the only representa- tion which is viable, conceptually sound, and in agreement with experimental data is the last one.
