Abstract

A new Measurement-While-Drilling (MAID) gamma-gamma density sensor is described which will provide formation bulk density as well as measurement of the photoelectric factor. The tool is designed to obtain high quality data through use of a stabilizer blade which provides gamma ray collimation and contact to the borehole wall. Utilization of scintillation detectors enhances the efficiency of gamma ray measurement and allows spectral analysis.
