Abstract
EFFECT OF ROCK PROPERTIES ON WELL STIMULATION The use of well logs to provide data concerning rock properties and characteristics is currently being used in some areas for well stimulation treatment planning. Elastic constants derived from acoustic logs supplemented by other information from acoustic logs are used to provide information relating to frac- ture height as well as the ability of the formation to accept a fracture treatment. These logs and their application in the planning of treatment of a number of wells in the California area, as well as other geographical locations, are discussed in the paper.
