Abstract

Formation interval acoustic travel time is now routinely obtainable from most existing cased wells Such information is commonly comparable to, or of better quality than, that obtained from uncased hole provided some degree of cement bonding exists. This has been made possible by the use of improved sound generation and electronic equipment, and experience in logging under such conditions. The new technique permits the widespread and relatively inexpensive evaluation of both producing zones and previously untested intervals.
