Several formations in Alberta and northeastern British Columbia were evaluated using advanced well log and core analysis techniques. The mineralogy and petrology of the Belly River, Doig, and Charlie Lake formations were evaluated to geologically substantiate and quantify the results of the advanced well log analysis techniques. The mineralogy was identified through Core Laboratories’ Mineralog and was substantiated with thin-section petrography and scanning electron microscopy. Petrophysical laboratory measurements such as porosity, permeability, and grain density were also evaluated.
