Abstract
Shaly sand water saturation values are calculated and compared to Oil Base Core SW values. Three prominent sands from the Cretaceous of Western Canada are examined. The calculated Shaly Sand SW values are significantly and consistently lower than core SW values. A modified Shaly Sand equation is offered to give better SW values in these sands and in the Cretaceous in general.
