Abstract

The responses of various wireline logging tools in permafrost have been the subject of many papers to date. Most, however, have researched the theoretical aspects of such things as resistivity, sonic travel time, SP deflection, caliper response and, more recently, density and neutron applications. Together with their theoretical approaches, previous workers have interspersed a limited assortment of practical examples. Due to the recent increase in drilling activity in the Canadian Arctic more and more logging runs have been made through permafrost conditions.
