Abstract

The responses of most logging devices are effected by the pres- ence of the frozen zone* at or near the borehole wall. The ence of the frozen zone* at or near the borehole wall. The effects may be easily measured or only theoretically so depen- effects may be easily measured or only theoretically so depen ding on borehole condition, formation pressure, temperature ding on borehole condition, formation pressure, temperature and thermal conductivity, drilling fluid and formation fluid and thermal conductivity, drilling fluid and formation fluid salinities, lithology, and other factors.
