Abstract
The benefits of well logging are largely associated with the ability to identify porosity and water saturation characteristics. In the face of advancing well logging technology, the Spontaneous Potential (SP) log has tended to fade in importance in interpretation. This is unfortunate, for the SP contains unique information about the formation that can be very beneficial, especially in assessing the formation’s saturation characteristics.
