Abstract

well analysis in the 1800’s and early 1900’s consisted largely of examining the return mud and cuttings for signs of oil and gas. The introduction of the core barrel in the 1920’s and electric logs in the 1930’s helped in the identification of production zones, but the need remained for information as quickly as possible after the formation was drilled.
