Abstract

Shielded waterflow behind pipe, whether annular or channeling, can be difficult or impossible to identify with con- ventional logging instrumentation. Identifying shielded flow with conventional logging services has several limitations: Temperature logs rely on qualitative interpretation and analysis. The temperature of the fluid flowing in the wellbore and temperature anomalies caused by fluid passing through perforations can affect the final inter- pretation adversely.
